The S3520BU33ER 2-Bay RAID Enclosure offers a high-performance external storage solution, allowing you to mount a secure RAID array with two 3.5-inch SATA hard drives, with the option to connect it to your computer through one port. USB 3.0 or eSATA available.
For fast data transfers and efficient performance of SATA III drives, the RAID enclosure supports the maximum transfer rates of SATA III (up to 6 Gbps), in addition to the maximum transfer rates of USB 3.0 (up to 5 Gbps). If connected via USB, the box supports UASP, offering up to 70% faster performance than conventional USB 3.0 when paired with a UASP-compliant host controller (see our performance below).
Compatible with JBOD, Spanning, RAID 0 and RAID 1, the box offers several options that allow you to customize the layout of your drive based on your storage requirements.
For maximum durability and reliability, the external RAID cage is made of high-quality aluminum with a built-in fan that increases air circulation and maintains a better operating environment for the drives.
The HDD cage offers a versatile solution to increase the storage / backup capabilities of your computer, with support for large capacity hard drives (tests up to 4TB).

Improved performance with UASP
UASP support on Windows 8, Mac OSX (10.8 or higher) and Linux. In tests, UASP performed with 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed, in contrast to the peak performance of conventional USB 3.0.
At the same full performance capabilities, UASP tests also show an 80% reduction in required processor resources.
Test results were obtained using an Intel® Ivy Bridge system, a StarTech.com box with available UASP, as well as a SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD).
