The serial extender over Cat 5, model RS232EXTC1, allows you to extend the distance of an RS232 serial connection by up to 1000 meters, which allows you to connect serial peripheral devices up to 1 kilometer from the system: an incredible 65 times more than what the restrictions of a normal RS232 serial cable would allow.
The extender is an economical, fully hardware-based serial solution that avoids having to install additional software, thanks to its complete plug-and-play installation. Hardware can be configured in minutes, using new or existing Cat 5 (or better) or Ethernet cables.
