Startech PEXUSB3S4V

4-Port UASP PCI Express PCI-E USB 3.0 Adapter Card – SATA Powered

The PCI Express USB 3.0 Card (SATA Powered), model PEXUSB3S4V, lets you add 4 external USB 3.0 ports to any PCI Express equipped computer system, as well as supporting data transfer rates of up to 5 Gbps and being backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices / 1.x.

Enhanced with support for UASP (USB Connected SCSI Protocol), this USB 3.0 controller performs 70% better than conventional USB 3.0 when paired with an External Drive Enclosures (Note: UASP requires a supported operating system). Since it uses a more efficient protocol than the traditional USB BOT (“Bulk-Only Transport”) protocol, UASP technology optimizes transfers by allowing multiple commands to be processed simultaneously, significantly increasing speeds. transfer for less waiting time in data transfers. For more details, see the UASP test results below.

The card is designed to allow each port to be stacked on top of the other so that all four USB 3.0 ports are facing outward, yet the card can still be attached to a compact / low-profile computer system using the bracket included.

In addition, thanks to its integrated SATA power connector, each USB port provides up to 900 mA of power to devices that draw power from a host bus connection (500 mA for USB 2.0), by connecting to the computer’s power supply. .

Improved performance with UASP
Supports UASP on Windows® 8 and Server 2012. In tests, UASP performed with up to 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed, compared to maximum USB performance 3.0 conventional.

At the same full performance capabilities, UASP tests also showed up to an 80% reduction in required processor resources.

Test results were obtained using an Intel® Ivy Bridge system, StarTech.com USB 3.0 expansion cards, a StarTech.com box with available UASP, and a SATA III solid state drive.

Upgrade an older PCIe-based system with USB 3.0 connectivity and take full advantage of the capabilities of USB 3.0 devices
Expand the USB capabilities of a system by incorporating four external USB ports for connecting additional external hard drives, CD / DVD drives, MP3 players, printers, scanners, webcams, game controllers, digital cameras, and more.
