The 5-bay removable hard drive cage, model S355BU33ERM, allows simultaneous access to five individual 2.5 “or 3.5” hard drives through a single connection of an eSATA or USB port to a laptop or desktop.
For fast performance and efficient data transfers, the removable hard drive cage can be connected to a computer via eSATA or USB 3.0. The box fully supports SATA III data transfer speeds of up to 6Gbps, when the connection is via eSATA. When connected via USB 3.0, the box supports transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps as well as UASP, offering up to 70% faster performance than conventional USB 3.0 when paired with a UASP-equipped host controller.
This enclosure supports the highest speed hard drive technologies, including SATA III (6Gbps), hybrid drives, as well as Solid State Drives (SSD), saving time by making the most of the performance of external storage devices.
For optimal performance and durability, this DD / SSD enclosure includes a built-in fan, which helps to cool the drives while ensuring maximum heat dissipation.
To ensure compatibility with the computer system, the S355BU33ERM box supports all major operating systems, including: Microsoft Windows® (8/7 / Vista / XP / Server 2008 / Server 2003), Apple® OSX (10.9 / 10.8 / 10.7 / 10.6), Linux and Google Chrome OS ™.
Improved performance with UASP
Compatible with UASP on Windows 8, Mac OSX (10.8 or higher) and Linux. In tests, UASP performed with 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed, in contrast to the peak performance of conventional USB 3.0.
At the same full performance capabilities, UASP tests also show an 80% reduction in required processor resources.
Test results were obtained using an Intel® Ivy Bridge system, a StarTech.com box equipped with UASP, as well as a SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD).
