As it uses an ASMedia ASM3142 chipset, this card takes full advantage of USB 3.1 Gen 2 technology. With higher data transmission performance, this PCIe USB 3.1 Gen 2 expansion card is a must-have for external hard drives and many other USB peripheral devices. 3.1 Gen 2, and includes an optional SATA power connector for more power consuming devices.
This card is backward compatible with USB 3.0 (5Gbps) and USB 2.0 (480Mbps) devices. The card works with newer models of USB-C devices, but compatibility with your existing USB-A peripheral devices is possible using inexpensive USB Type-C cables and adapters.
