It also holds 7-8 inch screen size tablets measuring up to 5 inches wide, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 and 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and 8.0, Galaxy Tab A 8.0, Galaxy Tab E 8.0, Galaxy Tab S 8.4, and Nexus 7. This mount is not recommended for phones or other devices without a case measuring 2.64 inches wide or less, including iPhone 8 or iPhone 7. Handheld gaming systems, including Nintendo Switchand Sony PSP, are also compatible with this holder. The phone holder’s solid construction provides strength and reliability by featuring a spring-loaded mechanism that expands to securely grip large phones and midsize tablets. Arkon recommends using the RoadVise XL Holder with smartphones with skins and ruggedized cases. The low-profile phone holder keeps rear smartphone cameras free for spontaneous pictures or videos. The 4-Hole AMPS pattern consists of four holes located in a rectangular pattern spaced at 30.17mm x 38.05mm (measured as the center-to-center distance between holes). This tough, low-vibration pedestal measures approximately 4.5 inches high from the bottom of the base to the top of the pedestal (not including holder), and is made of a combination of plastic and nylon. The pedestal’s double ball adjustment provides 360-degree rotation and the ultimate flexibility in positioning the device at any angle. The mount can also be screwed directly into your vehicle’s console. (Warning: Drilling into the vehicle may cause damage. Use caution and consult a mobile install professional to avoid drilling into any sensitive vehicle components.) Garmin GPS devices can also be mounted by simply removing the holder and revealing the 17mm ball mount base.
